Welcome!
Welcome to my blog, dear reader. I started this blog when the Internet came fresh out of the oven. A close friend introduced me to Blogger in 2009 where I started my nascent writing because I’ve always wanted to be a writer. As the years passed by, I moved to my own site and then back to WordPress. Due to some of this migration, old posts and pictures have gone awry, but this blog is home to over 15 years of writing.
I misspelled ‘amaryllis’ when I made this blog, that’s why the awkward spelling. But I have decided to stick with the misdirections of my youth. I’ve adopted the username, and it has adopted me.
This blog, as it stands today, would not exist without my friend Rishifter. My deep gratitude to him.
Years of blogging have brought me many friends, tears, words, books, and experiences worth writing about. I firmly believe that I want to experience life so that I can write about it. I live in Navi Mumbai, India where I enjoy the comforts of a small town just outside the large, bustling city of Mumbai.
I have had my work published in various literary magazines in India. Check out Published Writing for a list. I am an alumnus of the Dum Pukht Writing Residency.
Currently, I have diversified my personal writing in the following spaces:
- amarllyis.in | Where I write about my days, feelings, life, and the human experience.
- bookhad.com | Which I maintain with a friend, and where I write about the books I am reading, usually short snippets with lovely photos (if I may say so myself)
- amarllyis.substack.com | Where I post longform essays about culture, tech, and the environment grounded in reading, observations, and small dissent
amarllyis is my home. I have grown up here documenting my life, talking about the misgivings of the heart, and my travels through the world and the every day.
Thank you for stopping by. ♥️
In case you’d like to write to me, my email is amarllyis [at] gmail [dot] com. đź’Ś
