Q. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?

No. My mother wanted to name me something that wasn’t all that common back then. After 3 years, my sister got the common (and beautiful) name though.

Q. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?

Well…I guess, 2 days ago. In a bus; when time was passing by in a hurry.

Q. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING?

Oh yes!

Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?

I don’t like meat at lunch. For me, lunch is defined by dal, chawal, dahi and a dash of lemon pickle. That, for me, is the definition of lunch. Anything else, is a substitute.

Q. DO YOU HAVE KIDS?

Yes. A son and a daughter. My daughter is a princess and my son is brilliance.

Yes.

Not as often as you would think often would be.

Anything without raisins is good. Rice flakes, corn flakes, oats, all fine with me.

Sitaphal (custard-apple) ice-cream. That ice cream is goodness and crystals of dewdrops whipped in together. Pure delight.

These days, the length of their hair (if it’s a woman) ‘cos I despise the length of my hair, which is rather short. If it’s a man, the shirt he’s wearing. It says a lot about personal grooming. A lot.

Red. The one that reminds you, invariably and tire-fully, of those heart-shaped balloons around Valentine’s.

New notebook, wet mud, old letters, my hair.

My mother. She calls every day to ask what train I caught and if I had juice for breakfast. Every day she asks me the same questions.

I love a good tandoori meal. I like the taste of charcoal on the roti or chicken. (Chicken garnished with a zest of lemon of course.)
Seekh parantha with onion rings and pudina chutney. (Lemon juice on the seekh again!)
Dosa, the way my friend’s mom makes it with her customised chilli chutney.
French fries with chilli sauce.

Winter. When it’s snuggly and a little dry. When the snow is falling in your imagination. When the lotion is creamy on your skin; like a princess being coated with protection. When you lie in bed and wish the dreams are as beautiful as the weather.

Q. DESCRIBE YOUR PENCIL CUP.

It’s not a cup, but a small, squarish cardboard box I used to construct into what I think is an appropriate pencil holder for me. I covered it with red chart paper and decorated it with coloured U-shaped pins. It has my name on it and my copyright on its behind. 😛

I confess I find it phenomenally difficult to pin point “one” favourite. I like so many things. I could well be a butterfly in a field of flowers. How can I say no to what’s wonderful?

Q. WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING NOW?

That’s a depressing question. I’m reading 3 books at the same time if you constitute that as reading. The last book I picked up was 44 Scotland Street by Alexander McCall Smith.

Erm…it’s a mouse pad, so mouse.

Q. WHAT DID YOU WATCH ON TV LAST NIGHT?

Pardes. I think SRK is the most amazing romantic hero ever. Inspiring even. Imagine him declaring to your father he loves you no matter what (DDLJ, Veer Zaara, Pardes…I’m sure there’s more) in that matter-of-fact tone. As if he were saying that the Sun sets in the West. It’s done so effortlessly; and then your father just melts. Who would compete with the laws of nature, as if to contend? And your hero takes you away! Ah, fairy tales on silver screen.

Diamond Studs. American diamond studs, for the measly life that I live. I would love, love, love to own platinum studs.
