Ice Cream

WordPress’ Daily Prompt for today is:

You’re at the beach, lounging on your towel, when a glistening object at the water’s edge catches your eye. It’s a bottle — and yes, it contains a message. What does it say?

I’ve attempted a response.

Eat ice cream.

I always eat ice cream when I am happy. And now I am happy you found this. So, go ahead, eat ice cream. And while you are at it, sing a song. I’m listening to a sound that comes to me as I write this. It sounds like Johnny Cash. Sing Johnny Cash if you can. If not, sing anything that you know. Even that nursery rhyme you were taught. Singing causes more oxygen to enter your body. But if you don’t like to sing, breathe. Breathe. Take deep breaths and notice how air fills your lungs. And while you do it, be fully present to witness that moment. Do it once, twice, thrice until you learn how to be fully alive in a moment. Then, as an experiment, hold the hand of the one you love and be fully alive to feel it. Never forget how that feels because one day it will be lost. Like I did my wife. On this very day. She loved ice cream, she sang a lot of songs, and she taught me how to breathe. When she was going away she told me, buy someone else ice cream after I am gone. And that is why this.

Eat ice cream.
